The picture above is our home in Mallorca.

My wife Sandy and I designed it together, and I drew it up using Corel Draw. We gave the drawings to the architect who copied them into his CAD programme and returned us an official set of drawings from the Colegio de Arquitectos with a bill for 20,000 Euros. That’s a fixed price, non-negotiable. With that, you can get your planning permission from the local council, find yourself some builders and Hey Presto you have a house in Mallorca. Simple, well not really, but that’s another story!

As I write this in the year 2019, we have two children and five grandchildren, three boys and two girls. We are all very fortunate to live on this beautiful Mediterranean island of Mallorca. The grandchildren have Spanish and English roots, and from my Butler Irish heritage, they can go back as far as the Vikings. This may not interest them now, but from experience, I know that as they get older, and certainly when they have children of their own, they will want to know more about the history of their family.

Being Irish, telling stories is very important to me. And that is the whole point of this blog.

I have decided I will try to write at least one story related to my life, of no more than 8000 characters, every week with a publishing deadline of midnight on Fridays.

We will see, I hope you find this site entertaining, and I look forward to your feedback.
